In 2002 I attended a conference in Hawaii sponsored by
the U.S. Department of State Bureau of
Diplomatic Security (DS). The
attendees were assigned to U.S. Missions (Embassies, Consulates, official
facilities) in East Asia and the Pacific regions of the world. I was a
guest speaker in the conference. |

I had the opportunity to visit Israel on several
occasions between 1995 and 1998. The pictures below were taken
at King David's Tomb and the
Wailing Wall. |

As a member of the
U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, I had the opportunity to participate in the
Inauguration Parade for President Bill Clinton on January 20, 1993. In the
picture to the right I am the one carrying the Air Force flag. |

This is my class picture for the Correctional Officer
course at the
Criminal Justice Training Center. Since I was already attending
the Police Academy I decided to complete this course so that I would
understand what happens after the arrest process. I was the only
student that was not employed by a police or correctional department, and in
fact paid
my way through the police and correctional courses. |

The
California Conservation Corps (CCC) offered me the opportunity of
working in the forest, fighting fires, and providing emergency response such
as flood control. I was stationed in Lake Tahoe, CA and had the opportunity
to fight a few forest fires that year. One of these pictures shows us
taking a lunch break from fighting a fire. After sucking in all the smoke
and dust for several hours, what harm is there in eating with dirty hands. |

My sophomore year on
the Junior Varsity (JV) team wasn’t as successful; we had a decent year but
didn’t bring home the championship. I was number 40 again. |

My freshmen year of
High School was at Patterson High in
Patterson, CA. Patterson was a small city with a population of
approximately 3,500 at the time. In reality, my brother Elias had
taught me how to play the summer prior. Prior to that, I couldn't dribble or
shoot to save my life. We won the Trans Valley League (TVL)
Championship that year. I was number 40 |

1977 |
I have few memories of
playing Pee Wee League baseball as child. I can distinctively remember
getting a solid hit at the end of the game, but until I found this article I
had forgotten that we had won the championship. Our team name was the
Purple’s; this was before community league teams were named after
professional league teams (1977). I’m standing directly in front of the
coach. |
